For an idyll for two, the attractive Gitschberg Jochtal Ski Resort, with its 16 lifts and 44 km of perfectly groomed slopes for all skill levels, offers the right mix for winter sports enthusiasts of all ages. Since the construction of the 8-seater Gaisjoch and Schilling gondola lifts, the Gitschberg Jochtal Ski Resort has become the largest ski area in the Eisack Valley. The slopes lead down into the villages of Vals and Meransen and bring family and adventure holidaymakers together.
Families feel particularly well-looked-after in Vals, where the ski lifts and slopes run right down to the front doors of the local accommodation. Active holidaymakers enjoy the opportunities offered by the sunny mountain Gitschberg in Meransen. In Vals (Jochtal) a fun park for free skiers and snowboarders, looking for a challenge, is located.
The variety of cosy ski lodges are perfect for your after-skiing interludes. The Pranter Stadl Hut, Alpine Lodge of the Year for 2012, is also located here. Off the slopes, Gitschberg Jochtal offers large expanses of pristine scenery for unforgettable winter hiking, sledding or snowshoeing. Winter hiking trails are also groomed, and the Gitschberg Jochtal Alpine Region has been specifically recognised for this as well.
The region offers many newly built accommodations, equipped with modern facilities, for a perfect winter holiday for couples or families.
